supplies:

Printed Meet the Garden Helpers card

Journaling prompt

Which helper have you seen most often? What flowers did it visit?

activity & instructions

1. Read each helper aloud: Honeybee, Butterfly, Ladybug, Songbird.
2. Share each one’s role in the garden.
3. Ask which helper participants have seen most.
4. Look for one helper this week!

Nature & cultural insight

Bees, butterflies, ladybugs, and birds each support a healthy garden ecosystem.

Facilitator tips

Ask which helper participants remember most from their own gardens. Place the card near a window.

Dementia Adaptation

Read one at a time. Show photos. Ask simple questions like ‘Have you ever seen a ladybug?’

Did you know?

Bees can recognize human faces — using the same technique humans do, by seeing the face as a whole rather than its individual parts. They’ve even been trained to identify specific people in photos.
